Just an Update from Ballard, WA

I just wanted to share with everyone that I did complete a comics narrative. It is called, "Ballard," and it finds me on a journey to see if a, once mellow blue collar neighborhood with a lot of character, may have lost something after developers gave the place a make-over. To be sure, there are no easy answers. This is probably my most challenging subject yet for a 24-hour Comics Day. I will serialize my efforts over at Comics Grinder in the days ahead.

Liminka, Finland

The 24hcd in Liminka School of Arts took end at 11 am. 73 persons attended, 18 artists finished 24 pages and fell asleep.

24-Hour Comics kicks off in Ballard, WA

Hello, this is Henry Chamberlain, your fellow cartoonist!

This year, I'm in Ballard and I kick off with a focus on Edith Macefield. She inspired the world when she defied developers and would not sell out and leave her home in Ballard, Washington. Her story inspired the Disney animated feature movie, "Up."

Just wanted to share with all of you a special collection of 24-Hour Comics Day comics under the title, A NIGHT AT THE SORRENTO AND OTHER COMICS. This is what happens after everyone goes home, all bleary-eyed from staying up all night drawing comics, and then decides to take things further.

I hope this will inspire readers here at the 24-Hour Comics Day blog and I invite y'all to support my efforts as best you can. I am doing all I can to rally support. Just a LIKE goes a long way. Thanks so much!

And I look forward to reporting back to you on this year's 24-Hour Comics Day!! There is exciting news up ahead.

24-Hour Comics Day 2013 date announced

ComicsPRO has announced the date for the 2013 24-Hour Comics Day. Starting in 2013, and going forward, 24-Hour Comics Day will be the first Saturday in October. In 2013, the 10th annual 24-Hour Comics Day will be held on Oct. 5. The announcement was made at the ComicsPRO Annual Members Meeting, held this year in Atlanta, Ga. “The 24-Hour Comics Day committee has decided to make 24-Hour Comics Day the first Saturday of October every year, based on feedback from participants,” said ComicsPRO director executive director Amanda Emmert. 24-Hour Comics Day is an annual challenge for cartoonists to produce a 24-page comic book written, drawn, and completed in 24 consecutive hours. ComicsPRO, the comic book specialty retailer trade group, organizes the day. ComicsPRO invites comic book artists, whether professional or amateur, young or old, to check out a local venue or try the challenge on their own. Host sites should register at www.24hourcomicsday.com, and those who wish to participate can go to www.24hourcomicsday.com and look for events nearby as the event day nears. - Matt Price http://blog.newsok.com/nerdage
